Art Month Appoints Kate Britton As Artistic Director Of The 2018 Festival
Art Month Sydney will return in March 2018 and planning has started with the appointment…
7 NovFor four weeks, The Mind Diner will exist at Level 1, 82 Oxford Street.
Nestled between such establishments as Tandoori Palace and Burgers Anonymous, up an unassuming flight of stairs. The space sits somewhere between an art gallery, an airport frequent flyers lounge, a speakeasy and a library.
The Mind Diner is an exercise in agility. Temporary space and the temporary community it creates, opens up new avenues for art to enter the wider consciousness and to be accessed in an unusual environment.
Additionally, these sorts of exercises, if done well, are able to be nimble and deft in nature. They require problem solving, but allow a playfulness, flexibility, and ability to surprise that a fixed location and space don't always allow.
The Mind Diner will house an exhibition that will inhabit the space in such a way as to encourage visitors to take their time, sit with the artwork and the subtle shifts in thought and concentration. In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be a public program consisting of workshops and artist talks designed to provide further insight into the creative process, and an opportunity for the artists to engage in important critical dialogue with their peers and their audience.
Open 8th March - 26th March
Wednesday - Friday 11am-5pm
