Japanese Ceramics: Traditionally Crafted Contemporary Art

Artist Talk

Two members of the boundary-pushing Ikeyan group, Aoki and Yokoyama will discuss their practices and the culture of kogei (master artisan) in contemporary Japanese ceramics. With technical mastery in their medium, both award-winning artists seek to invigorate traditional craftsmanship with their experimental glaze research, new forms, suggestive sculptural works, and functional tableware.
