In 2015 the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney held a comprehensive retrospective of Matthys Gerber paintings. The exhibition was testament to Gerber’s unique ability to command the full gamut of painterly genres. In his latest series of paintings, Gerber takes a new approach, zooming in on compositions that are suggested to extend beyond the surface of the canvas.
